02-34 - Gloom Patrol Pandemy Pivot from Roller Derby to Music. Siobamm. Toronto, Ontario, Canada. 07/06/21
Dave transcends time and space to have a pandemy Gloom Patrol chat with Siobamm. When the lockdown shutdown Roller Derby in Toronto Siobamm pivoted back to her other love, music. With the skatepark shutdown due to lockdown she created a fun album inspired by the work of Butch Big and Billy Rush. Dave explained the sound as reminding him of 1995 and Shirly Manson & Garbage. While playing Song Title in the Form of a Pandemy Question, inspired by Nardwuar the Human Serviette, Siobamm and Dave explore how we can achieve a Star Trek future. The answers cover a range of pandemy hot topics including the housing powder keg, opioid crisis, refunding education/health/social services, how we use militarized police, reconciliation and Indigenous resilience, and Groundhog Day. Is Wiarton Willie alive? Dave wants proof of life.
